In this edition of Captured Caring, we are celebrating milestones and raising awareness—here’s a glimpse into recent initiatives at Mount Sinai Hospital and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital.

“The Spiritual Care department is dedicated to removing any barriers for Indigenous peoples to practice healing rituals. Departments such as Facilities and Development, Security, and Safety at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital participated in the Smudging ritual to better understand the needs of patients, learn about cultural safety, and gain appreciation for this healing ritual.”

“Mount Sinai’s inaugural World Delirium Awareness Day celebration on March 13, 2024, was a success, thanks to a dedicated team of nurses and allied health care staff. Their efforts aimed to increase awareness of delirium among staff and the community. From March 4 to 12, the team conducted 23 unit huddles, leading interdisciplinary discussions on a brief video depicting a delirium experience from a patient’s perspective. These facilitated group discussions encouraged critical thinking about delirium, its prevention, and how to manage patients experiencing it. The event also featured giveaways of brain-healthy snacks and Delirium Prevention lanyard cards, generating excitement and much-needed attention. The team looks forward to continuing their important work in the future.”
