Two photos side by side. One is a group shot including hospital staff, public officials, patients and families and the other is a father holding his baby at the event.

Mount Sinai Hospital welcomed Premier Kathleen Wynne and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Dr. Helena Jaczek along with members of the media for the official announcement of the Ontario government’s $4 million investment to create a new specialized centre for fetal medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. The centre will build on an existing partnership between Mount Sinai Hospital and SickKids that sees world-renowned specialists collaborate to perform more than 100 in-utero surgeries and procedures a year.

Patients and families who have benefitted from the fetal medicine program, staff and physicians were on hand to celebrate the announcement. Baby Eiko,  pictured with her dad (above) is one former patient. She was the first baby in Canada to undergo in-utero spina bifida surgery. Read more about the Ontario Fetal Centre here.
