Sinai Health has joined forces with Deloitte Canada to host a one-night only, live-stream charity event called Sinai Live to raise funds in support of the fight against COVID-19.

On Saturday, May 2, Sinai Live will feature an incredible lineup of celebrity streamers from Canada and around the world sharing their video broadcasts on ChampionsofSinai.com to raise awareness and support for Sinai Health.

Hosts Marissa Roberto (TSN), Faizal Khamisa (Sportsnet) and tech expert Amber Mac will take viewers through 11 hours of dynamic programming, including a tour of Casa Loma, cooking segments from Toronto hotspots The Drake and Bar Chef and a livestream from lifestyle and gaming entertainment organization SoaR Gaming.

Toronto Mayor John Tory will kick-off the event with a Q&A, followed by a message from Ontario Premier Doug Ford. Other celebrities expected to appear from their homes include Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Zach Hyman and Anthony ‘Methodz’ Zinni from the Toronto Ultra.

“For all of us taking social distancing measures and staying at home, there’s a new way to make an impact in the fight against COVID-19,” said Louis de Melo, CEO of Sinai Health Foundation. “The doctors and nurses at our hospitals have been working tirelessly to combat the pandemic and need our support now more than ever.”

Internationally recognized for leading-edge research and world-class patient care, Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the hospitals in Toronto that has opened an Assessment Centre in the wake of COVID-19.

Funds raised will be used to purchase essential medical and support supplies such as meals and overnight accommodations for front-line health care workers and iPads for patients in isolation at Mount Sinai Hospital and Bridgepoint Active Healthcare.

“It has been incredible to see so many professionals from across our firm come together to volunteer their time and expertise in support of this important initiative,” said Don MacPherson, Partner, National Strategic and Operation Risk Leader, Deloitte Canada. “It’s a great example of our people living our purpose, to make an impact that matters, and supporting the community as we all work to respond to COVID-19.”

The charity live-stream will take place on May 2 from 2 p.m. ET until 1 a.m. ET. Following the Sinai Live kickoff, ChampionsofSinai.com will be accessible to anyone who would like to join in the battle against COVID-19 and live-stream their own videos.

Participants will be able to register and set up their own fundraising page on the platform to continue the ongoing fight. To learn more, visit supportsinai.ca.
