Dr. Kieran Quinn, Clinical Associate in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Sinai Health System, has been recognized with the Bernard Ghert Award of Resident Excellence in Patient Focused Care.

As a resident at both Mount Sinai Hospital and Bridgepoint Active Healthcare, Kieran came highly recommended for this bursary. Dr. Allan Detsky, General Internist at Mount Sinai and a professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, worked closely with and supervised Kieran during his residency. “What distinguishes Kieran most is his passion and persistence toward his patients and their families, and the willingness to do what it takes to make change for the better,” wrote Dr. Detsky in his nomination letter. “I truly believe he has improved the care, especially near the end of life, for many individual patients and their families.”

For Kieran, the bursary represents an acknowledgement that reflects his interests and passions. “I always strive to ensure that patients and their families are heard and advocated for through their health care journey,” says Kieran. “Being recognized for my commitment to creating strong relationships with patients is such an honour.”

The Bernard Ghert Award of Resident Excellence in Patient Focused Care was established in 2002 in recognition of Mr. Bernard Ghert’s outstanding tenure as Chairman of the Board from 1997 to 2002. The award recognizes his long-standing commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching and research at Mount Sinai Hospital. The award is presented annually to a resident who has demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching, particularly in interpersonal relationships with patients and families.

Kieran’s passion for medicine extends beyond the bedside. He also hosts The Rounds Table, a podcast that explores topics from the latest in medical research developments. Kieran is also a dedicated husband to Lynn and proud father of Hunter, Austin and Kennedy.
