the New England Journal of Medicine

Congratulations to Dr. Nadine Shehata, Director of Transfusion Medicine, on her publication in the New England Journal of Medicine, which was just released online.

The paper, “Six-Month Outcomes after Restrictive or Liberal Transfusion for Cardiac Surgery” marks the second time in less than a year that Dr. Shehata has had a manuscript published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine. Funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Dr. Shehata was co-principle investigator on this global study of transfusion in cardiac surgery, involving 74 sites in 19 countries and every continent in the world (except Antarctica). You can read the study online.

In addition, Dr. Shehata was first author on a meta-analysis of transfusion strategies in cardiac surgery which was recently published online in the European Heart Journal.

Dr. Shehata’s contributions to research continue to improve patient care and outcomes at Mount Sinai Hospital and internationally.
