Hospital employees wearing medical masks looking at the camera“Since the end of March, the health disciplines team on 6 North have stepped in to provide additional support when families, volunteers and caregivers were no longer able to visit. Laundry allocated to members of the team so that nurses could continue to assist patients to get up and dressed every day, providing a greater sense of normalcy. In addition, the team co-ordinated Zoom calls to enable patients on the unit to have face-to-face interaction with loved ones as part of a hospital-wide initiative. They also assisted patients at meal times.”

headshot of a woman facing the camera smiling“I want to share a recent story that came from a grateful patient in recognition of Kim Parker, our Director of Risk and Emergency Preparednes. Since March Kim has been a constant presence on the main floor of Mount Sinai Hospital supporting the screeners and our patients and their essential care partners in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The patient shares that Kim’s patience and support were greatly appreciated as she navigated the hospital for multiple appointments, including escorting her to Princess Margaret. Your actions, including respecting their wishes to not use a wheelchair, made them feel safe and listened to. Thank you for your kindness, service and humanity Kim. You made a significant impact on her and she wanted to share her appreciation of you!

Kim is wrapping up her 19-year career at Mount Sinai at the end of September and this story is just one of many examples of the patient centred, calm demeanor she has brought to her work at Sinai Health. Congratulations on your retirement Kim!”

a group of people standing on a rooftop in downtown Toronto with the CN Tower in the background“The Capital Development, Redevelopment Project Office (RPO) and Building Services teams manage all construction within the hospital, and we ensure everyone is working safely, efficiently, and disruption is kept to a minimum for our clinical teams. We are mostly behind the scenes, but if you’ve worked with us, you know how caring (and hardworking) our peeps are! We were glad to participate in the last Tropical Friday. Check out the view of the CN tower – this pic was taken from the Murray Street roof looking south.”
