Dr. June C. Carroll
Dr. June Carroll is a Professor and Clinician Scientist in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and a family physician in the Granovsky Gluskin Family Medicine Centre, Sinai Health.
She holds the Sydney G Frankfort Chair in Family Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. She is also the Co-Founding Director of GEC-KO: Genetics Education Canada: Knowledge Organization (www.geneticseducation.ca).
Dr. Carroll’s research focuses on the development, evaluation and implementation of practice tools and knowledge translation strategies to enhance the delivery of genomic medicine by primary care providers.
Internationally, Dr. Carroll won the Medical Book Award (as principal co-author) from the American Medical Writers Association (2012), and was recognized for a Distinguished Research Paper by the North American Primary Care Research Group (2009).
She has also received also received recognition for the Outstanding Family Medicine Research Article Award (College of Family Physicians of Canada) in 2006, among other national awards for publication.
Dr. Carroll is a current or past committee member with the American Society of Human Genetics, the International Genetics Education Network, the National Human Genome Research Institute and the North American Primary Care Research Group. She advises Health Canada, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada, Health Quality Ontario, Cancer Care Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Ontario, among other groups, on issues relating to colorectal cancer screening, prenatal, newborn and childhood screening, hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, and genetic testing of late onset diseases.
She obtained her MD from the University of Toronto and has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scholarly publications and reports.
