Systemic Bias and Racism Speaker Series: Impacts of Racial Trauma on Health (Part 2)

May 15, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

In part 1 of the “Impacts of Racial Trauma on Health” we engaged in conversations about how racial trauma impacts the mental and physical health of Black Canadians. In part 2, we will engage in activities that offer a space to constructively analyze health services and programs, and make suggestions for how these services and programs could better serve Black individuals. Participants will be offered a space to collectively dream and plan for more equitable health-care services.

Breanna Chanelle Phillip is a social worker who has been working in community and social services for approximately nine years. She has a passion for working within Black communities to support them in navigating society’s oppressive systems. She is currently the Graduation Coach for Black Students at the Halton District School Board, and is also a therapist at BRI Counselling Services.

Breanna is dedicated to supporting individuals in owning, writing and re-writing their stories. She is determined to remind all that come in contact with her, that their stories matter and their voices deserve to be heard.
