Sinai Health System held its first Education Celebration honouring educational excellence across both its Bridgepoint and Mount Sinai campuses on June 8. Award recipients, family members, physicians, staff, students and academic partners gathered together to celebrate education.
Dr Gary Newton kicked off the event with opening remarks, followed by a short keynote from Dr Ivan Silver, Vice President of Education at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. In his speech, titled “What’s the evidence? Ten ways to make teaching zing,” Dr. Silver provided the audience with practical tips to apply in their teaching.
Eighteen educators, 9 from each campus, from a wide range of disciplines, (clinical and non-clinical) received awards in three categories: Distinguished Educator, Leadership in Education and Life Long Learner. One team from each campus received the Collaboration in Education award.
The event was organized by the 2018 Education Awards Committee: Christinne Duclus, Jackie James, Leanne Ginty, Parisa Alvand, Robyn Davies, Sabrina Gaon, Stephen Hall, Vince Chien with Katherine Brown and Lucy Perruzza.
