Circle of Care Mock Accreditation

If you work in a hospital, you know that Accreditation is a big deal. In the lead-up to Circle of Care’s October 2018 Accreditation survey, employees are benefiting from Sinai Health System’s recent experience of accreditation.

For Circle of Care, the process of accreditation is a little bit different than it is for a hospital, but there are also many similarities. Carey Lucki, CEO, Circle of Care and VP, Sinai Health System tells us that “for us, accreditation means showing Accreditation Canada that we are instituting the highest levels of client care, and that our Personal Support Workers, as well as employees in support functions, have a deep well of knowledge when it comes to the standards and best practices of home care.”

Kate Wilkinson, VP, Quality and Clinical Programs, and Lily Yang, Senior Director, Quality and Patient Experience, spent time at Circle of Care, walking teams through some of what they could expect to see during the Accreditation process. This included mock survey questions and prepping the Circle of Care teams for scenarios that could be presented by the Accreditation Canada. This could include something like being asked how their role is client-centred or showing what actions they would take if a client was in distress.

“Being able to lean on our Sinai colleagues for support like this is another great benefit of our integration,” adds Carey Lucki. “Their feedback was incredibly useful and will help us hone our responses to best showcase the high quality of care we deliver every day.”
