On Sunday, June 10 staff and families gathered together to celebrate the 35th annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Graduate Picnic.

“The picnic is a fantastic way for families to celebrate their NICU babies and is a happy way to reconnect with the medical staff who helped care for their babies,” said Kasia Pytlik, Social Worker and Parent Program Coordinator in the NICU.

This year almost 600 families and staff joined in on the festivities which included a BBQ lunch, as well as event a photo booth, bouncy castles, LEGOLAND display, sing-a-long, and Project Sunshine’s crafts table.

The popularity of the event shows how impacted parents are by their child’s stay in hospital, and how strong the connection families have with the NICU staff,” remarked Kasia. “The picnic is something that many families look forward to and are committed to joining the celebration year after year. The staff love seeing the babies they cared for all grown up! It truly is a special event for all.”
