It’s time to close the books on another successful United Way campaign. Once again, Sinai Health has come together to raise funds for the United Way, and help alleviate poverty across Toronto and ensure that our patients have access to vital services once they leave our hospitals.

This year, our goal was to have one in seven of our people donating to the United Way. We are pleased to report that we didn’t just meet that goal, we exceeded it in spades.

After a three week campaign, Sinai Health reached a participation rate of 1 in 6, with more than 17% of our people donating to the United Way. This number also represents tremendous growth over last year, when we reached a then-historic participation rate of 12.5%.

Dr. Gary Newton, Sinai Health’s President and CEO said, “I’m beyond proud of our people and the leaders in this campaign who have elevated our game when it comes to giving to the United Way. You’ve all shown a tremendous drive, worked as a team, and prioritized our commitment to support others and the community we live in.”

“It was a real honour to work on this campaign,” said Teresa Shiel, Manager of Volunteer Resources at Sinai Health and campaign co-chair. “Being able to meet so many of our people face to face, and share the value of United Way was something I won’t forget.” Arsalan Hamidi, Senior Manager, Transformation & Organizational Enablement adds “It was incredibly inspiring to see the way that everyone came together to make a big impact in our campaign.”

Sinai Health celebrated the end of our campaign with wrap-up parties at both Bridgepoint and Mount Sinai campuses. Our people came together to hear from community members who have been positively impacted by United Way agencies, checked out some truly impressive gingerbread house creations and enjoyed sweet treats alongside the big reveal of our final campaign numbers.

A big thanks to everyone who participated in our campaign, with special thanks to our ambassadors for helping to spread the word.

Our campaign is officially closed, but the United Way is always accepting funds. Sinai Health employees can use this link to add to our campaign, or visit the United Way
