One short year, so many redevelopment accomplishments! Transformation has been the name of the game in 2018 as we renew Mount Sinai from the inside out. Renew Sinai is the largest and most ambitious redevelopment project in our history, and will redefine how we care for our patients. Among many exciting enhancements, we will expand our Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Centre, transform and relocate our Surgical Services department, and build a new Intensive Care Unit. Photos of staff moving equipmentWe cut ribbons to brand new spaces including a whole floor of clinical and staff related spaces on the 20th level and new clinics for neonatal follow-up and ophthalmology. We also opened up a new Support Services department, BioBar, Health Records and Information area, and a temporary Medical Device Reprocessing Department. Rendering of state-of-the-art ORWe recently shared images showcasing what our Emergency Department waiting room, state-of-the-art operating rooms and the exterior of our building will look like in the near future. In case you missed it, take a glimpse into the future. Ann Avard - OR ChampionWe introduced you to employees like Ann Avard who are championing change within their departments. Kelly Shillington, Project Champion for our Emergency Department and Maria Mendes, Project Champion for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine were also featured. It takes a village to deliver a project of this size, and we will continue to profile those who are leading the way toward our redevelopment vision.   Staff receiving ice cream during a celebratory eventActivities don’t only lead to impacts and disruption—we continue to plan fun and games to keep employees engaged throughout the project. To name a few, energy ran high at a cycling event called Ride to Renew, we served cold treats in celebration of our first year of renewal, and we played Renew Sinai Jenga at the annual Appreciation BBQ.   Stay tuned for many more exciting milestones in 2019!
