Janice O’Born, C.M., O. Ont.

Janice O’Born is Chairman of The Printing House (TPH) Charitable Office, which was founded in 1985, Janice’s vision was to promote philanthropy to the staff of TPH and effectively manage the numerous charitable requests the company receives each year.  

The Charitable Office is also committed to providing support to the local communities in which The Printing House conducts business.  The Charitable Office, through TPH’s branch system, donates printing to a wide range of registered Canadian charities across Canada who distribute their funds in Canada.  To date the Charitable Office has raised and/or donated in excess of $83,000,000.00. 

Janice has received recognition; most notably, a member of the Order of Canada, a member of the Order of Ontario, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee Medals for Volunteerism. In 2007, Children’s Circle of Care recognized Janice and Earle O’Born with the Outstanding Philanthropists Award for their work for SickKids Foundation. Renascent Foundation recognized Janice’s longstanding philanthropic support in 2012 with the Lifetime Achievement Award and she was made a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club Toronto West in 2013. Most recently, Janice was recognized in the Women of Influence in their Top 25 Women of Influence with a select group of five women in the NGO category. 

Her motivation for volunteering is concern for her fellow human beings.  At the end of the day she wants to know that she did her best by making a difference and helping others help themselves.   

Born and raised in England, Janice lived in Australia for several years before immigrating to Vancouver in 1978 where she met Earle.  An avid gardener, Janice and Earle have two children, and 2 grandchildren.
