Welcoming new co-chairs to Sinai Health Foundation

Sinai Health Foundation’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election of Debbie Kimel and Rob Kumer as Co-Chairs of the board.
Our new leadership gives us even more reason to celebrate our 50th year of transformative impact — and we're confident they will help us set the course for the next 50 years. Long-time volunteer and community leaders Debbie Kimel and Rob Kumer assumed their positions as Co-Chairs of the Foundation Board of Directors in June. Their unique styles and shared commitment to Sinai Health will make them wonderful partners to help shape the Foundation’s future.
“We are thrilled that Debbie and Rob are stepping into these leadership roles,” says Louis de Melo, President and CEO of Sinai Health Foundation. “They are both deeply committed to driving our work forward and bringing our community together to fund transformative care for all.”
“As the Foundation marks our 50th anniversary, Debbie and Rob will be instrumental in building on our proud history of being a bridge between philanthropy and innovation. They bring a wealth of volunteer leadership experience that will help us achieve our fundraising goals to support the world-class care and research that takes place at Sinai Health.”
“I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
Debbie Kimel is a community leader who is actively involved with a variety of organizations, with a special focus on the health-care sector and Jewish causes. Her connection with Mount Sinai Hospital started in 1973, when she began her career there as a Respiratory Therapist. Through the years, her family’s connection to the Hospital has grown, first through her volunteer work with the Auxiliary and then an increasing focus on supporting through their own philanthropy. She has been an active member of the Board of Sinai Health for over 20 years and recently joined the Board of Sinai Health Foundation.
“Sinai Health is where people come to seek excellence in health care. To be entrusted with the opportunity to help lead the Foundation means being part of a team that makes a meaningful difference in people's lives every single day,” says Debbie.
“I am most excited to build on this remarkable foundation that already exists and to support bold ideas. I am especially eager to invest in the people who make Sinai Health what it is – our dedicated staff, physicians, clinicians, researchers and our volunteers. I believe that when we invest in our people, we elevate our care. I am humbled by this opportunity to co-chair the Foundation with Rob Kumer and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
"I believe that together, we can leave a lasting impact on one of Canada’s leading health systems.”
Rob Kumer brings fantastic energy to everything that he does, fuelled by a strong desire to challenge the status quo and drive innovation. He is Chief Executive Officer of KingSett Capital, guiding the execution of the firm’s strategy and delivering results for investors. His experience chairing the firm’s Investment and Management Committees makes him an excellent resource on business and investment strategy. Rob has been an active member of the Board of Sinai Health Foundation since 2017 and serves on the Board of Sinai Health.
"The health-care needs of patients and families are always evolving. The honour and privilege of co-leading the Foundation gives me a chance to give back and help Sinai Health grow and better serve those who need it,” says Rob.
“I’m most excited to help find new ways to serve the changing needs of our community and play a role in shaping the Sinai Health of both today and the future — including investments in life-saving equipment and facilities and funding world-class research to offer patients the care, comfort and answers they deserve. I believe that together, we can leave a lasting impact on one of Canada’s leading health systems.”
