Description:
It has been two years since amendments were made to Canada’s MAiD legislation. During this time clinicians have found themselves navigating highly complex circumstances, both clinically and at the system level. In this session, the patient populations who currently have access to MAiD and the challenges with MAiD assessment and provision will be described. As well, the complexities of populations who currently do not have access to MAiD will be outlined, along with a forecast of what clinicians can expect in the near future.

By the end of the session, participants will:
– Understand the different patient populations for whom MAiD is currently accessible along with assessment and provision challenges.
– Understand the complexities around patient populations for whom MAiD is currently not accessible.
– Appreciate what to expect in the near future as far as access to and support for the delivery of MAiD.
