Marco E.L. Mendicino

The Honourable Marco E.L. Mendicino is Senior Counsel and Strategic Advisor at Cassels Brock and Blackwell LLP. A former federal prosecutor, Cabinet minister and Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Mark Carney, he brings two decades of leadership in law, government and public policy.

Mr. Mendicino led the Prime Minister’s Office through a federal election and one of the most significant government transitions in recent decades. In that role, he advanced major projects legislation, worked with premiers and Indigenous leaders, and advised the Prime Minister directly at the White House, NATO and the G7.

Elected three times as the Member of Parliament for Eglinton–Lawrence, Mr. Mendicino served in Cabinet as Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and Minister of Public Safety, and chaired the Five Eyes partnership on behalf of Canada.

A Senior Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, he contributes to national conversations on governance and the rule of law, and appears regularly in the media as a commentator.
