Vasculitis Clinic

We treat patients with inflammation of the blood vessels caused by vasculitis.

What we do

Vasculitis is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in arteries, veins and capillaries.

This inflammation thickens the walls of those blood vessels, making it hard for blood to flow to organs and tissues.

The vasculitis clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the largest in North America and serves as a training hub for physicians from around the world.

We diagnose and manage vasculitis to help patients improve their quality of life.

What to expect

Before your first appointment, you may be asked to fill out a questionnaire to help us better understand your condition.

At your appointment, you will meet with a physician who will go over your medical history and perform a physical exam.

The physician might also recommend more blood work, urine tests, medical imaging or a biopsy to diagnose your condition.

Your physician will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is specific to your needs.

Treatment plans may include:

  • Medication to reduce inflammation
  • Medication to treat or prevent damage to your organs

Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.

What to bring

  • Health (OHIP) card or valid health care coverage
