Young Adult Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Clinic
We care for patients transitioning from The Hospital for Sick Children’s SLE clinic to adult care.
What we do
The Young Adult Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) Clinic is a collaborative care clinic that helps former patients of The Hospital for Sick Children’s (SickKids) SLE clinic transition to adult care. Our patients are between the ages of 18 and 23.
Our clinic is staffed by both paediatric and adult rheumatologists to ensure continuity and familiarity in the delivery of care.

What to expect
Before your first appointment, you may be asked to fill out a questionnaire about your medical history.
At your appointment, you will meet with a physician who will ask about how you are feeling and perform a physical exam.
The physician might also recommend more blood work or medical imaging in order to monitor your condition.
Our clinic is a safe place to ask questions and to learn about lupus and how to manage it. We are here to support you throughout your health journey.
Some patients find it helpful to bring a list of questions or things to talk about to the appointment.
Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.
