Melanie Gordon
Melanie Gordon has over 14 years of experience working as a physiotherapist in orthopaedics and sports medicine. She obtained her master of science in physical therapy from the University of Toronto after graduating from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science degree in human kinetics.
Skilled in treating patients of all ages, Melanie enjoys helping them reach their goals, whether it is returning to a sport or improving their well-being. She integrates various treatment techniques into her patients’ treatment plans, which may include manual therapy, exercise training, acupuncture and dry needling. As a certified Pilates instructor, Melanie incorporates Pilates-based strengthening into rehabilitation programs targeting conditions like sciatica, rotator cuff tendinopathies, postural weakness, osteoarthritis, and post-surgical strengthening.
Melanie is also a manual therapist and completed her diploma of manual and manipulative therapy with the orthopaedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (FCAMPT) in 2013. Certified in integrative dry needling, she effectively manages pain, reduces myofascial tension and addresses neuromuscular conditions. Growing up, Melanie participated in a number of sports including competitive gymnastics. She understands the physical demands of sports on our bodies and the importance of exercise training for overall health and well-being.
In addition to her clinical practice, Melanie is a registered instructor with the orthopaedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and participates in teaching courses and mentoring fellow physiotherapists. During her free time, she enjoys staying active through fitness activities like tennis, running and Pilates.
