2022 was another year of memorable moments, achievements and milestones at Sinai Health. These accomplishments set the stage for what’s possible in 2023 for our people, our patients and the communities we serve.

The Stroke Education Series, a collection of videos available in English, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, Arabic and French. Created in collaboration with experts, patients and caregivers from Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, in total, these videos have now been viewed more than 150,000 times.

The Rogers Hixon Ontario Human Milk Bank has received 10,864 litres of donated human milk this year. 2023 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Milk Bank, which has distributed more than one million ounces of donated human milk to NICUs across Ontario.

More than 5,809 babies were born at Mount Sinai Hospital, including some of the province’s most medically fragile newborns who are cared for in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Our teams at Mount Sinai Fertility cared for patients through more than 3,400 treatment cycles, including intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection in order to help people become pregnant and create and build families.

Scientists at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI) published more than 880 primary research publications on topics including, clinical oncology, obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, gastroenterology and public health.

Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital continues to be a leader in supporting Ontario’s pandemic response by receiving 355 patient transfers, more than any other post-acute care facility in the province.

The surgical teams at the Ontario Fetal Centre preformed its 44th in-utero surgery aimed at decreasing the effects of spina bifida.

The LTRI is home to 15 of Canada’s Research Chairs, a program funded by the Government of Canada to help build diverse research teams and develop groundbreaking discoveries that will offer hope for the future.

After 10 months of labour, the hospital façade was demolished to make room for modern exterior glass panels. As part of Mount Sinai Hospital’s Renew Sinai Phase 3A, these new windows will provide patients and our people with more natural light to improve patient care and the experience of our people.
