Clinical and Information Services teams collaborate on new technology to manage the perioperative care journey

Large scale projects take large scale planning and collaboration, which is why clinicians and leaders joined the Information Services team at Mount Sinai on February 26 to celebrate the launch of the Perioperative Clinical Information System (PCIS) project.

Over the next 18 months, the way that we manage our surgical patients will be transformed by a single, integrated clinical documentation system that will have the patient’s end-to-end perioperative journey fully documented. It will also help us to manage everything from inventory to scheduling OR time.

The new workflow will increase safety, strengthening communication between transitions of care and foster multidisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration with a shared integrated electronic health record.
