Overview

Dr. Medha Soowamber is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto (U of T). She specializes in vasculitis and giant cell arteritis.

Dr. Soowamber completed her medical training, postgraduate training and a Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC) – Vasculitis Foundation Fellowship at U of T. In the United Kingdom, she received specialized training in diagnostic vascular ultrasound to provide rapid assessments and diagnosis. This expertise helped establish the Fast-Track Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) Clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital, which she now leads.

Her clinical research interests include vasculitis, with contributions to multiple academic publications and participation in several clinical trials in the field.

Dr. Soowamber is a recipient of the Ontario Rheumatology Association Rheumatologist of the Year award (2026).
