Endodontics Clinic
We perform complicated root canal treatments and address dental pain.
What we do
Our endodontics team specializes in performing complex root canal treatments for patients who are dealing with pain or sensitivity due to an injured or diseased tooth.
A root canal procedure is done to save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
What to expect
Before your first appointment, we may ask you to complete a patient health questionnaire to help us understand your medical history and needs. Please bring your completed questionnaire with you to your first appointment.
At your first appointment, we will talk to you about your medical history, symptoms and concerns. We may also recommend X-rays to help inform your care plan.
To treat your tooth, we will first administer a local anesthetic to numb your mouth. We will then remove the inflamed or infected dental pulp in your tooth, which includes nerves, blood cells and connective tissue. Your root canal treatment may require one or two appointments.
Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated health-care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.
After your root canal treatment, it is important to schedule a follow-up appointment with your regular dentist. Your regular dentist will rebuild your treated tooth. It is common to use a crown (a tooth-shaped cap) to protect the tooth that was treated.

Please be aware that root canal treatment is not covered by OHIP and you will be required to pay for your dental care. See our dentistry fees for more information.
