ScribeBerry Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scribe
We are introducing a new tool called ScribeBerry to support your care and reduce clinician administrative burden. ScribeBerry is a secure, AI-powered medical scribe that listens during your visit so that your care provider can focus more on patient care and less on documentation during your in-person, phone, and/or virtual appointments.
ScribeBerry listens to your visit and helps your provider create a draft summary note. This draft is reviewed and edited by your provider before it becomes part of your official medical record. ScribeBerry is used only after obtaining your verbal consent, which will be asked for at the start of each appointment.
At this time, residents (doctors-in-training) will not be using ScribeBerry. The tool will only be used by your staff doctor or nurse practitioners.
If you have questions, please ask your provider at your next visit, or speak with a member of our clinic team.
Consent
Your provider will ask for your verbal permission before using the recording feature in ScribeBerry on their electronic device.
- You may decline or withdraw consent at any time
- Your care will not be affected if you say “no”/decline to participate
Here’s an example of what your provider might say:
“As a reminder, I use an artificial intelligence scribe to help me take notes during our appointment. Do you give me permission to use this? Do you have any questions before I turn the scribe on?”
Protecting your privacy
ScribeBerry meets all of the necessary privacy and security requirements to keep your information secure. Here's how your information is protected:
- All data is encrypted and protected during use
- ScribeBerry does not use patient data to improve or teach its system
- Any temporary audio or text is deleted within 30 days or less
- Finalized notes are only stored in your medical record
Visit the ScribeBerry website directly for more information.
Are there any risks?
AI scribes are designed to support your care, but as with any technology, there may be occasional limitations such as:
- Transcription errors (for example, due to background noise or multiple speakers)
- Occasional technical glitches (i.e. “hallucinations” where incorrect details may be added to the note)
Your doctor or nurse practitioner is still expected to review each note for accuracy and make any necessary corrections, just as they would when documenting without an AI scribe.
Summary
ScribeBerry helps reduce clinician administrative burden while improving patient/provider communication and visit note turnaround time.
- You will always be asked for verbal consent to turn the scribe on during your visit
- Your information is kept private and secure
- You can opt out at any time, with no impact on your care
