Fracture Clinic
We care for patients with broken bones and soft tissue injuries.
What we do
The Fracture Clinic cares for patients with broken bones and soft tissue injuries. We see patients who have been referred from our Emergency Department or from a primary care physician.
Please note we do not manage fractures of the spine or hand.
What to expect
We are a fast-access clinic, which means you can expect to get an appointment within five to seven days.
At your first appointment, an orthopaedic surgeon will examine your injury and talk to you about your symptoms. We may recommend medical imaging, such as X-rays, to give us more information about your injury.
We will then work with you to decide on a care plan that is specific to your needs. Your treatment may include any of the following:
- Splints and braces
- Casting
- Walking boots
- Surgery
Some care plans require appointments with other health-care providers, such as a physiotherapist.
Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.
What to bring
- Health (OHIP) card or valid health-care coverage
- A list of your current medications
- Any recent test results you’ve received, like X-rays or scans
- Comfortable and loose-fitting clothes
