Audiology and Vestibular Lab
We perform diagnostic testing to help diagnose head and neck conditions.
What we do
Our otolaryngologists use tests to help diagnose hearing, dizziness and balance issues.
We work with audiologists at Hearing Life who perform some of the following tests.
Hearing tests
Hearing tests are the most common tests we use for hearing and ear issues.
During your appointment, an audiologist will discuss your hearing concerns and visually examine your ears.
The test involves listening to beeps at different frequencies to see if certain sounds are hard for you to hear.
Vestibular tests
Vestibular tests help diagnose inner ear and balance disorders such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and Meniere's disease.
There are several kinds of vestibular tests. Depending on which test your physician has ordered, there may be special instructions about food, drinks and medication to avoid. We will give you the instructions when we call with your appointment time.
Your vestibular testing may include:
- Video-nystagmography (VNG)
- Video head impulse testing (v-HIT)
- Cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP)
- Electrocochleography (ECoG)
- Auditory evoked brainstem response (ABR) v
What to bring
- Health (OHIP) card or valid health care coverage
