General Psychiatry Clinic
We provide assessment and treatment for mental health illness to adults aged 18 to 64.
What we do
Our General Psychiatry Clinic provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment-planning services for mental health-related illnesses for adults aged 18 to 65.
What to expect
At your first appointment, a clinician will ask you about your current symptoms, feelings, experiences, treatment history and the impact these have on your daily life.
Our clinician will work with you to decide on a care plan that is specific to your needs. Your care plan may include any of the following:
- Medication options
- Psycho-social interventions
- Individual or group therapies
- Recommendations for educational tools and self-help resources
Our Psychiatry care team will update your referring physician about your care plan.
We offer a mix of virtual and in-person care. Family members and care partners are welcome to participate in your care and attend appointments, if you wish.
Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated health-care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.
After your care with us is finished
If you experience new symptoms or have concerns, please discuss your concerns with your family physician, who can contact us to determine the appropriate next steps.
What to bring
- Health (OHIP) card or valid health-care coverage
- A list of your current medications
- A support person, if desired
