Overview
Dr. Anthony Griffin has been a member of the sarcoma team at Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for more than 30 years. He manages the clinical research program for the Musculoskeletal Oncology Unit, which includes a prospective clinical and functional outcomes database for the extremity tumour population, along with the correlative tumour bank. He is very interested in outcomes following treatment of extremity soft tissue sarcoma (STS) with radiotherapy and surgery.
Dr. Griffin obtained his Master of Science through the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto. His thesis looked at the potential for decreasing the risk of wound healing complications following preoperative radiotherapy and surgery for extremity STS by altering radiotherapy treatment plans to avoid higher doses to normal tissue uninvolved by tumour. This thesis was the basis of a Phase II clinical trial undertaken by the sarcoma team.
