Interprofessional Education

We offer a variety of interprofessional learning opportunities.

“Interprofessional education occurs when two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.”

World Health Organization, 2010

When different health-care professionals work together to care for patients, outcomes for patients are improved. Interprofessional education (IPE) teaches health-care professionals and students the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for collaborative practice.

IPE learners can expect to discover:

  • Differences and similarities in various health-care roles
  • The values and approaches of different health disciplines
  • The importance of team building, interprofessional communication and conflict resolution
  • How to build and maintain healthy interprofessional relationships

Sinai Health offers a variety of interprofessional education opportunities to learners and preceptors. These include presentations, workshops, structured placements, flexible activities and interprofessional shadowing opportunities.
