A decade of compassionate care: Sinai Health at 10

Our achievements are a direct result of the dedication and compassion that define us.
Sinai Health’s 10th anniversary gives us occasion to both celebrate and reflect on how far we have come.
In 2015, we came together to combine the resources and expertise of Mount Sinai Hospital, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital (then Bridgepoint Active Healthcare), the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI), and system partner Circle of Care. Our vision was to become leaders in the delivery of high-quality, integrated health care.
Milestones measured by impact
While impossible to list the many successes we have achieved over the past 10 years, there are a few that exemplify the power of working together:
- Thoughtfully designed care pathways, partnerships and collaborations across our Hospitals. From streamlined referrals to direct transfers, and access to expertise that provide patients with seamless transitions and better outcomes.
- We invested in the renovation and renewal of our buildings with the completion of Renew Sinai Phase 3A at Mount Sinai Hospital, and the naming of Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital
- Incorporating Hennick Bridgepoint into our academic partnership with the University of Toronto. Strengthening our commitment to offer innovative education that supports excellence in patient care.
- Defining our Purpose and Values. More than 1,600 employees, learners, physicians, scientists and volunteers shaped these core principles that evolved from the legacy of our two founding Hospitals.
- The integration of our quality aims have made a positive impact in the work we do every day.
- Establishing our five year strategic plan, setting the course as we start our next decade.
Greater together during unprecedented times
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we proved that we are greater together than the sum of our parts. At Mount Sinai, our Microbiology Lab performed more than three million COVID-19 tests. LTRI earned 341 external grants and more than $24 million in funding for COVID-19 research projects. Hennick Bridgepoint accepted the highest number of patient transfers of all post-acute care hospitals in Ontario. Our system partner, Circle of Care, delivered essential care in the community to keep older adults safe and out of the hospital.
Our successes are rooted in a culture of quality and innovation that is embodied by all of our people. Their unwavering commitment to excellence made this milestone possible, and future goals within reach.
The next decade
Looking ahead, we plan to expand our role along the care continuum. Our vision of discovering and delivering life-changing care remains strong, readying us to meet the health-care challenges of tomorrow.
