Captured Caring: Inspiring moments for July 2026
Every day our people at Sinai Health are doing extraordinary things. Captured Caring is a series featuring submissions from our people to provide you with inspiration and encouragement as we care for patients and each other.
On June 22, the Mount Sinai NICU launched the Fresh Milk at the Bedside project that encourages parents to pump at their infant’s bedside to provide fresh, warm human milk to NICU infants and fresh, refrigerated human milk for other feeds prepared by the Milk Preparation Team. The initiative has seen incredible success in the first two weeks of implementation with 82 per cent of eligible infants in the NICU receiving a fresh milk feed daily. The team has worked extremely hard to bring this infant feeding change into practice. Thank you so much to the incredible team behind the project!
Initial parent feedback has been very positive. Parents are embracing the change in feeding practice and saying they feel the fresh milk is warming and healing for their NICU infants.

Sinai Health’s Seniors’ Wellness Centre proudly celebrated its 25th Anniversary on June 22. Established in Scarborough in 2001, the Centre provides culturally competent and linguistically responsive mental health care and wellness support for Chinese older adults, their families and caregivers.
The celebration brought together local city counsellors, provincial and federal parliamentary representatives, community partners, senior leadership, clients, and family care partners. Patients and caregivers shared meaningful accounts of their care journeys highlighting the impact and importance of the holistic care provided by the clinic's interprofessional team. The open house welcomed community members to learn more about seniors’ mental health programs, with more than 150 attendees participating throughout the day.
For 25 years, the Seniors’ Wellness Centre has been committed to delivering compassionate, client-centred care through strong community partnerships. The team looks forward to continuing its mission of supporting the mental health and well-being of older adults in the years ahead.
