“It takes leadership to improve safety culture, and the Emergency Department at Sinai Health has demonstrated this throughout the pandemic. More recently the organization recognized several nurses for their leadership role in prioritizing patient and staff safety during a fire in the department.

Devora Byer, Evan Keys, Melissa Chartrand, Anuradha Sedai and Nayanathara Mackootti were recognized with a Patient Safety Award for the role they played in removing the patient to safety, securing the area and putting out the fire.

Thank you all so much for everything you do to keep each other and our patients safe every day!”
