An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Mount Sinai Hospital on the 9 South inpatient unit. As of October 30, 2020, there are two active patient cases identified.

A COVID-19 outbreak is defined by the province of Ontario as at least two cases within a 14-day period where both could reasonably have been acquired in the hospital.

We have taken immediate precautions to ensure the safety of our patients and our care team. The unit is now closed to admissions and has undergone enhanced cleaning. Other patients on the unit are being proactively tested for COVID-19 and continue to be monitored for symptoms. All efforts have been taken to quickly identify any individuals who may have been at risk of exposure to inform them of the outbreak and provide support as needed.

Hennick Bridgepoint remains open.

Sinai Health’s priority continues to be the safety of our patients and our people. We remain vigilant in actively evaluating our practices and implementing additional measures as necessary to respond to cases and outbreaks within our community.
