Earlier this fall, Newsweek magazine released the first part of their World’s Best Specialized Hospital 2021 listing, naming Mount Sinai Hospital in two program areas – endocrinology and cardiology.

In the release of the final rankings, Mount Sinai’s expertise has also been recognized in orthopaedics.

“Diseases of bone and joints keep people from leading full, active lives,” said Dr. David Backstein, Head of the Granovsky Gluskin Division of Orthopaedics at Mount Sinai Hospital. “Advances in care resulting from research and new technologies for the treatment of hip and knee arthritis as well as orthopaedic oncology coupled with an outstanding team of healthcare providers dedicated to improving patient outcomes is what makes our program so unique. It’s incredible to be recognized along with our peers for this work.”

Managed by Newsweek magazine and in partnership with a global market research company, more than 40,000 medical experts participated in surveys that allowed them to recommend and assess various hospitals within their respective specializations. The results of the survey were then validated by a global board of renowned medical experts.
