Dr. Jordan Pelc is an Assistant Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (U of T) and Division Head of Hospital Medicine at Sinai Health. He is also the Medical Informatics Lead for Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, where he has helped grow the Hospital Medicine program’s clinical and academic output.

Dr. Pelc completed his medical degree, residency and fellowship training at U of T, along with a Master of Science in chemical physics.

His practice spans both acute and post-acute campuses at Sinai Health, where he provides inpatient care and supervises medical learners. His academic interests focus on care of the post-acute hospital patient. He draws on bioethical, psychosocial, informatics and engineering approaches, and his work has included studying therapeutic alliance in team-based hospital settings, using virtual reality to improve stroke rehabilitation, and applying design approaches to reduce inpatient falls.

Dr. Pelc co-founded the Hospital Medicine, Human Factors Innovation Collaboration at Sinai Health — a cross-disciplinary initiative bringing together medicine, engineering and psychology to develop novel solutions to hospital problems. Its work has spanned escalation of care processes, digital maturity measurement, and an AI predictive model of clinical deterioration in post-acute care. Through this initiative, Dr. Pelc regularly supervises project students from a range of educational backgrounds.
