Menopause and mature women’s health

Overview

Dr. Marie Christakis is Clinical Lead of the Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health at Mount Sinai Hospital and an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto (U of T). She completed her medical degree at McMaster University, her residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at U of T, and fellowship training in menopause and mature women’s health.

Dr. Christakis also holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, with a focus on population-level data analysis. Her clinical interests include menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency, and lower genital tract disorders. Her research focuses on improving the health of women during the menopausal transition and beyond, with particular interest in the relationships between menopause, metabolic health, cardiovascular disease, and cognitive health.

She is also actively involved in advancing menopause education for health-care professionals and trainees through curriculum development, educational scholarship, and knowledge translation initiatives.
