Overview
Dr. Paul Kuzyk completed a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering at Queen’s University and his medical degree and residency training at the University of Toronto (U of T). During his residency training, he obtained a Master of Applied Science from the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at U of T. Dr. Kuzyk became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) with a certificate in orthopaedic surgery. He completed a fellowship in hip/knee arthroplasty and orthopaedic trauma surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto in August 2009. Dr. Kuzyk was awarded the Hip Society Müller Traveling Fellowship and completed this at the Inselspital Hospital in Berne, Switzerland. He completed a fellowship in hip osteotomy surgery at Harvard University.
Dr. Kuzyk supervises the Granovsky Gluskin Biomechanics Lab at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and has a basic science interest in hip implant biomechanics, porous bone in-growth surfaces for cementless implants and preservation solution for cartilage transplant. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and presented at national and international orthopaedic conferences in the fields of orthopaedic biomechanics, hip/knee reconstruction, orthopaedic trauma, and fresh osteochondral allograft transplantation for hip/knee cartilage defects.
