Overview

Dr. Varsha Thakur is a fetal cardiologist and staff physician in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division at Mount Sinai Hospital. She specializes in fetal echocardiography, prenatal cardiac diagnosis, and the management of congenital heart disease in pregnancy.

Dr. Thakur completed her medical training at Western University and her paediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. She completed paediatric cardiology training at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton and at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, where she also completed a fetal cardiology fellowship. She holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Before joining Mount Sinai in 2018, Dr. Thakur held staff positions at SickKids and Trillium Health Partners. At Mount Sinai, she has been instrumental in building the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division's fetal cardiology program and establishing the early anatomy and fetal cardiac assessment clinic. Her research focuses on outcomes following prenatal diagnosis and early fetal echocardiography.

Dr. Thakur serves as Head of Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Professionalism for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
