Our translational research program is centred on the Placenta Clinic within the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Our work focuses on the medical and surgical complications arising from various placental disorders, with an emphasis on; placental growth factor (PlGF), fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia (elevated blood pressure associated with organ damage) and placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorder, which occurs when the placenta is embedded within the uterus and may cause severe bleeding during delivery.
Our current collaborations are with: Dr. Mike Seed (Cardiology and Medical Imaging at SickKids, Drs. John Sled and Chris Macgowan (Medical Biophysics at SickKids), Dr. Sascha Drewlo, Reproductive Sciences at Sunnybrook Research Institute and Dr. Lindsay Cahill, Environmental Sciences at Memorial University.

Our group has limited opportunities for research trainees, depending available funding, with an emphasis on individuals with relevant postdoctoral skills.
Summer student positions are available to medical students (including GDipHR applicants) and undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Toronto.
