Prosthodontics Clinic
We care for patients who need artificial tooth replacements, such as crowns, bridges, dentures and dental implants.
What we do
Our dedicated team of dental specialists focus on the restoration or replacement of teeth and other oral structures that may be missing or damaged due to injuries, oral disease or congenital conditions.
We treat a range of issues, such as missing teeth, damaged teeth, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain or dysfunction, cosmetic concerns and obstructive sleep apnea.
What to expect
Before your first appointment, we may ask you to complete a patient health questionnaire to help us understand your medical history and needs. Please bring your completed questionnaire with you to your first appointment.
At your first appointment, we will talk to you about your dental history, symptoms and concerns. Our prosthodontist may examine your teeth and gums and assess your oral health. We may also take X-rays or other tests as part of your visit.
We will then work with you to decide on a care plan that is specific to your care needs. Your treatment plan may include any of the following:
- Dentures
- Crowns (tooth-shaped caps)
- Bridges (false teeth and crowns that replace one or more teeth)
- Implant-supported prostheses (crowns, bridges or dentures that attach to dental implants)
- Oral splints
- Night guards for TMJ disorders and sleep apnea
Please note we are a teaching hospital, so you may see medical students, residents or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of our dedicated health-care team who work together to provide you with comprehensive care.
Please be aware that most dental treatments are not covered by OHIP and you will be required to pay for your dental care. Visit our dentistry fees page for more information.
