“April 11 to 17 was National Medical Laboratory Week, raising awareness of the crucial role laboratory professionals play in patient care. At Sinai Health, Medical Laboratory professionals work in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Microbiology, Diagnostic Medical Genetics and Ambulatory Labs. Our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine program is internationally renowned in many areas of work and the reference lab for many institutions. Our Microbiology lab continues to play a critical role in testing during the pandemic, reaching 1.5 million COVID-19 tests at the end of March.

Last week, seven surveyors from Accreditation Canada Diagnostics visited to fully assess our Laboratory Medicine Program to ensure their competency to perform tests and meet quality criteria. The surveyors were very impressed, as we had over 98 per cent compliance across 469 standards. Congratulations to the team!”
