Every day our people at Sinai Health are doing extraordinary things. Captured Caring is a series featuring submissions from our people to provide you with inspiration and encouragement as we care for patients and each other.

The Pre-Admission Unit and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit teams have collaborated together to collect donations for the Jamaican Canadian Association to help those in need after the impacts of Hurricane Melissa. Big, generous hearts like theirs turn ordinary days into something extraordinary.

There is nothing better than giving back during the holiday season. The Emergency Department came together to create a toy drive, collecting gifts to support kids at SickKids during the holiday season. Boxes quickly filled with toys, each one donated with care and compassion. Through teamwork and generosity, the department was able to spread joy beyond its walls. The toy drive reminded everyone that even small acts of giving can create a lasting impact throughout the community.

Every year, the Volunteer Resources team participates in a secret Santa. This year, however, the team instead chose to combine their gift funds and donate them to Father Wilson Andrade, a longtime Spiritual Care volunteer who will be travelling to Jamaica in March on a humanitarian mission.

During their time in Jamaica, the team aims to build two to three wooden homes for families in Riverton City. After completing this work, they will travel to Santa Cruz in the St. Elizabeth region to help repair structures and support communities significantly impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

We wish Father Wilson and his team a safe journey and thank them for the incredible work they will be doing.
