“I’m one of the Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) RNs in the Emergency Department and support the MAUVE (Maximizing Aging Using Volunteer Engagement) program volunteers. We had a great MAUVE volunteer education day on August 17, led by Angel Lau and myself, and supported by Theresa Shiel and Maureen Matheson. The education day included MAUVE volunteers from Mount Sinai’s Emergency Department and also from inpatient units at both Mount Sinai and Hennick Bridgepoint. Dr. Don Melady led a great talk on communicating with patients who have dementia. The session involved interactive group discussions and lots of learning.”
