Every day our people at Sinai Health are doing extraordinary things. Captured Caring is a series featuring submissions from our people to provide you with inspiration and encouragement as we care for patients and each other. Have your own story or photo to share? Submit it here.

“The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team have been encouraged to capture their experiences and emotions related to the pandemic using creative channels. Rozina Barolia is a nurse in Mount Sinai Hospital’s ICU who has chosen to write poetry to reflect on what she and her colleagues are feeling and going through. She hopes to leave a history, to share with future nurses, of what it was like during COVID-19. We are encouraged to see how team members are using unique ways to capture their experiences in this ever-evolving time.”

The Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Department is pleased to share the Pathologist Power List 2021 highlighting two of our very own Pathologists’ Assistants (PAs), Brian Chow and Amy Calovini. They were both recognized for their dedication, passion and contributions to teaching, mentoring and continued learning. Together with Dr. Carlo Hojilla, a pathologist, Brian and Amy played key roles in successfully developing and implementing a “Virtual and interactive Macroscopic Pathology Rounds” for Fellows, Pathology Residents and PA trainees to meet pandemic safety protocols. Word of this initiative quickly spread and participants now join the weekly session from across Canada. Read more about the award.
