Sinai Health held its annual Education Celebration honouring educational excellence across Hennick Bridgepoint and Mount Sinai on June 20. People from all over Sinai Health attended the event at Hennick Bridgepoint to recognize excellence in education, including award recipients and their nominators, as well as education leadership.

Kara Ronald, Vice President, Professional Practice, Nursing and Health Disciplines, kicked off the event with opening remarks, noting the essential role of educators in health care and at Sinai Health. “You have created an environment that is conducive to effective learning, and fostered a culture of acceptance as learners navigate into the world of health care,” said Kara. “This has been instrumental in helping the next generation of learners and has been the best recruitment strategy. It shows people that Sinai Health is a great place with amazing people and they will come and they will stay and become members of Sinai Health.”

Dr. Gary Newton, President and CEO, continued by thanking the award recipients and all the education staff for their dedication to teaching and learning and emphasized the importance of education as one of the three legs of the Sinai Health stool, along with research and care.

Twenty-three awards were presented this year across three categories: Distinguished Educator, Leadership in Education and Collaboration in Education. Educators from both hospital sites and from a wide range of disciplines were honoured. Dr Jackie James, Vice President, Education, concluded the ceremony with closing remarks and hearty congratulations to all the awardees.
