“Mount Sinai has officially begun delivery of new adult inpatient beds, with the first delivery to 14 North on September 21. The beds are being rolled out to replace all beds across medicine, surgery, cardiology, antenatal and postpartum units. New features include smart technology to assist in falls prevention, mattresses to reduce risk of hospital-acquired pressure injuries, an embedded scale for taking patient weights, a USB port and phone holder for patients and much more. These new beds represent several years of collaboration across departments, services and programs and will enable us to advance our commitment to quality care well into the future.”

“Our team on Mount Sinai Hospital’s 11 South and 12 North units came together as the “Sinai Sarcoma Squad” to participate in this year’s Virtual Terry Fox Run on September 19 to raise money for cancer research! Terry Fox lost his leg and eventually his life to osteosarcoma and founded the Marathon of Hope to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Our team on 11 South and 12 North have the privilege of caring for patients with sarcoma throughout their cancer journeys. Our fundraising effort is dedicated to all of our patients with sarcoma–past, present and future–with the hope to find new treatments for this rare but deadly group of cancers. Members of our interprofessional team participated in the event from various locations across the GTA and generously supported the cause by donating. The Sinai Sarcoma Squad was one of the top 100 teams in Canada for our fundraising efforts! Thank you to everyone who donated!”
