Sinai Health System Recognized with Top National Quality Care Standing
Accreditation Canada has recognized Sinai Health System to be among the top ranks of Canadian hospitals, by recently awarding it with Exemplary Standing.
Accreditation is a national external peer-review process, designed to promote excellence in quality and safety of patient care. It is an important process for Sinai Health, as it gives us an opportunity to assess our care against rigorous standards, and to see what we do well and how we can continue to deliver better patient care.
“This designation from Accreditation Canada is a signal that our ambitious quality agenda is on the right track,” said Dr. Gary Newton, President and CEO of Sinai Health System. “Supported by our Quality Aims, our strategic priorities and our team of dedicated staff and physicians, our future is bright.”
Accreditation Canada surveyors spent four days looking at all areas of our hospitals and speaking with staff, patients, families and volunteers about their experiences. We met every Required Organizational Practice (those standards most essential for keeping patients safe), and received over 98 per cent compliance with established standards of patient safety, quality and excellence. The surveyors’ praise for the innovative care we provide is palpable in the following quote from their report:
“It is evident that the organization provides the opportunity and the resources for people to dream about health care innovation that improves the lives of patients and families. Sinai Health System can be very proud of the contribution they’re making towards excellence in patient and family-centred care.”
Bridgepoint Active Healthcare and Mount Sinai Hospital formed Sinai Health System in 2015. Previously, both Bridgepoint and Mount Sinai achieved Exemplary Standing. Not only does this designation for Sinai Health build on our tradition of excellence, but it demonstrates our commitment to delivering the highest possible quality care and positive patient experiences.
