Our outpatient anesthesiologists prescribe medication and administer regional and local anesthesia.

Our family physician has special training in cognitive behavioural therapy for pain management.

Nurses

Our registered nurses and nurse practitioners have special training in anesthesiology and pain management. They provide care for patients during hospital stays as well as pre- and post-operative care. They also perform assessments and follow-ups in our outpatient clinic and are available to answer questions and help with concerns. 

If you are referred to the pain-in-pregnancy or the transitional pain services, your first point of contact may be one of our nurse practitioners. 


Anesthesia assistants 

Our anesthesia assistants are health-care professionals with special training in caring for patients during the delivery of local, regional or general anesthesia. 


Health disciplines

Health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists use exercise and other physical treatments to help patients better cope with pain.

Mount Sinai Hospital is teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. You may see a medical student, resident or other medical trainee as part of your care.
