Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common patient questions, such as how to renew a prescription or get your test results.

How do I get a prescription refill?

Prescription refills are provided during office visits. Please plan ahead to avoid running out of medication and discuss any refill needs with your physician or nurse practitioner at your appointments. If you need an urgent refill between appointments, please ask your pharmacist to fax a renewal request to the clinic.

How do I find out about my test results?

Significant or abnormal test results will be communicated to you. Our team may schedule an appointment to discuss your test results and the next steps for your care, if needed, or if you have concerns.

We will not typically call you if your test results are normal.

How do I get a referral to a specialist?

If you think you need specialist care, please book an appointment with your family physician. Your family physician will talk to you about your concerns and recommend ways to assess your issue.

If you are referred to a specialist, you can expect the specialist’s office to contact you within four to six weeks to schedule an appointment. If you have not received a call from the specialist’s office within six weeks, please contact your family physician for an update.

If your condition changes while you are waiting for your specialist appointment, please book another appointment with your physician or nurse practitioner so we can assess if you need more urgent care.

What services are not covered by OHIP?

If you are a patient of the Toronto site, please refer to the uninsured services fee chart for more information. Speak to your health-care provider if you have any questions or to learn more about the uninsured services fees for Vaughan site patients.

How do you protect my privacy?

Our team collects your personal and health information so that we can provide you with effective care. Your personal and health information is only shared with the people who are directly involved in your care.

Occasionally, we may send you information about new services offered at our clinic. If you prefer not to be contacted or receive mailings from us, please let your family physician’s office know. We will do our best to respect your preferences.

Do you have doctors who are accepting new patients?

How can I book and cancel appointments online?

How do you ensure that patients won’t get sick while in the clinic?

When patients arrive at the clinic they are asked three infection control questions as part of our registration process to determine whether not they need to wear a mask and whether staff will need to wear personal protective equipment such as masks, gowns and gloves while interacting with the patient. Our team will then make sure that these measures are in place.

Can I book a telephone appointment instead of having to come to the clinic?

Our physicians request that all appointments be booked in person unless the physician requests otherwise as a physical is generally required to properly assess patients.  Feel free to discuss this with your doctor at your next appointment.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

Appointments with our team are in high demand and your early cancellation will give another person the opportunity to access timely medical care. Please be considerate and notify the clinic at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to cancel or re-book.

Be advised that a minimum $50 fee will be charged both for missed appointments and appointment that are cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.

How do I know what vaccinations to get and when?

York Region Public Health has an Ontario Immunization Schedule on their website. The site also allows you to review your vaccination history and upload any vaccines that are not listed.
